Welcome to Phase I: The Journey of Invitation.
We spend the majority of our waking hours working, planning, and trying to build a life. But in the midst of the hustle, have you ever paused to ask: Is the ladder I’m climbing actually leaning against the right wall?
Many of us feel a "crisis of meaning." We might have the job, the house, or the credentials, yet we still feel a nagging sense of emptiness. We are living on the earth—dealing with bills, stress, and ambition—and sometimes, spiritual answers feel disconnected from these gritty realities.
This course, "The Architecture of a Meaningful Life," is designed to bridge that gap. We believe that your "secular" life and your "spiritual" life shouldn't be two different worlds. Whether you are deeply religious, skeptical of organized religion, or just curious, this journey is about one thing: moving from a career that makes money to a calling that makes a difference.
What We Will Explore Together
Over the next seven sessions, we are going to use practical tools—concepts from design thinking, psychology, and career coaching—to look at your life. But we won't stop at the surface. For every practical tool, we will explore the deeper wisdom behind it.
Here is the roadmap for our upcoming discussions:
1. Defining Success: Beyond the Paycheck We start by looking at the "happiness trap." Does more money actually equal more joy? We will identify the void that materialism can’t fill and start rewriting our definitions of success.
2. Design Thinking for Your Life You are not an accident. If you look at your life closely, you see patterns. We will use design thinking to prototype your future, moving from the idea of accidental evolution to purposeful creation.
3. Discovering Your Superpowers What are you naturally good at? We will look at personality and aptitude not just as skills to sell, but as gifts you have been entrusted with. The big question shifts from "How do I make money?" to "What will I do with what I’ve been given?"
4. Resilience: Navigating Failure In a performance-based world, failure feels fatal. We will look at how to bounce back and introduce the concept of "grace"—the idea that your value isn't tied to your win/loss record.
5. Deep Work & Time Management We live under the tyranny of the urgent. We will learn productivity strategies to reclaim our time, not just to do more, but to rest more. We will explore why rest (or "Sabbath") is essential for being human.
6. Ethics and the Trust Factor Why be good if it costs you money? We will tackle the gray areas of business and life, pointing toward the idea that there is an objective moral truth worth standing for.
7. Legacy: The Eulogy Exercise Finally, we will fast-forward to the end. There is a difference between "Resume Virtues" (what you did) and "Eulogy Virtues" (who you were). We will ask: Who will remember you, and what lasts forever?
Preparing for Our Zoom Discussion
Before we meet online, take 10 minutes to sit quietly with the following thoughts. There are no right or wrong answers—just honest ones.
The "Enough" Point: If you could reach a specific level of professional or financial success, do you think you would finally feel satisfied? Why or why not?
The Blueprint: Do you feel like you are "designing" your life, or do you feel like life is just "happening" to you?
The Gap: Where do you feel the biggest gap between your Sunday ideals (or moral values) and your Monday reality?
Bring these thoughts with you. We look forward to seeing you on the screen as we begin to sketch out a life of true substance.
